Yivin, the .243, .260, 6.5mm, 7-08 and .308 all have the same case. Why is the .243 your choice?

Everyone has their own preferences...I shoot a 308 rem. I don't believe she would like that kick to much. I kinda like the 243's. I borrow my hunting bud's alot and it is a pretty smooth shooting gun. Plus If she goes I can buy a 243 for her(actually me) to add to my small arsen.hehe

I would consider a H&R Handi-Rifle. They come in a variety of calibers and from everything I've heard shoot great, last for every, and are very reliable.

If any one hasan opinion on this gun let me know, I'm considering one for my girlfriend.

I HAVE HAD A REM MOD 7 IN A .308 CAL FOR 20 YEARS AND MY WIFE NOW USES THIS RIFLE. SHE LOVES SHOOTING IT AND IT FITS HER TO A TEE. LIKE MENTIONED ABOVE, THERE IS VERY LITTLE RECOIL AND IS COMFORTABLE FOR HER TO CARRY AND SHOOT. I'VE RELOADED FOR YEARS AND WOULD SHARE SOME LOADS IF THIS IS WHAT YOU PICK.

Wife #1--M700 .30-06. Wife #2--M70 .30-06. Current G/F--Model 700 .270. None was taller than 5'3" or weighed more than 135. All were very reliable game shots. I think we worry too much about recoil. They did/do not. I asked G/F if she wanted me to load some light .270's for practice. She said: "Why? My rifle shoots fine as it is."

Savage makes a youth model, think it comes in 7/08, not sure about 260.
You'll save at least a $100 by buying a Savage instead of say a Ruger or Browning.Savages are great shooters. If the wife wants a "pretty" rifle, well, maybe it's not the one.
