Default Scope

I'm looking to get a scope for a rifle i am going to be purchasing very soon. I will be getting either the stevens 200 in .223 or an NEF in .223. I want a scope with plenty of magnification, but i don't need too much. Probably somewhere around 18 on the high end. Question is, what scopes should i be looking at. I want something that is "good for the money". Thanks.

Well, i know that with scopes you shouldn't be pinching penny's but i like to get the most of my equipment. I currently use a vxii which isn't cheap, but for varminting i wouldn't mind paying less. An expensive hunt and tag isn't on the line and neither is my life, so i would like to spend under 200 bucks. Under 150 would be great and i know there are some that fit the bill, but are there any scopes that inexpensive that still perform adequetly?

Natchez has a Bushnel Banner 6x18 for 106.00 The Trophy Model, same power is 189.00 You might check the Swift scopes as well. They are a very good scope for the money. I have a Tasco 6x18 Mag four that I had on my NEF 223. I liked it but some don't. Simmons has some good scopes, The Aetec and White Tail Exp. are good ones. Cabelas has a few of those but only 10X I think. I don't know what Sightron Makes for Varmit scopes but they make some good lower priced scopes as well.

It's hard to beat Sightron for the money. The SI series is pretty decent but the SII series is pretty darn good! I know some shooters who swear by them

I don’t think you can go wrong with the Bushnell Trophy line of scopes. I have the 6-18 and find it’s a nice scope for the price. You can definitely find something with a lower price tag. Good luck.

I purchased one of the mid 90's production Redfield 6-18X40 on ebay for $100 about one year ago. Look on ebay and you might find another. It will be superior to any of the low cost 6-18 variables on the market. Whatever you choose make sure it has an adjustable objective anytime you go over 10 power.
