Here's a couple good articles about the differences;

Here's a good testament for the Scirocco's on a Cariboo hunt;

One difference not mentioned is that most guns shoot the ballistic tip and sst well but many do not shoot near as well with the scirrocco.

Power, I got some 150 Gr. Scirocco's last night for the 7 Mag, stopped at the range this afternoon and my groups went over 2" larger like now. I fired 15 shots, I also had 4 flyers out of 15, best 3 shot group was in that 2 1/2 range. I have some parts that fly in the 2" range, i can't seeing not using them with re: to Scirocco's. These were hand loads and the same guy that did me a batch of SST's...they are dailed in under a 1".

I am going to try some 154gr interlock to see what they will shoot, any thoughts on this for them deer as a pill? I have to admit this is kind of fun...wife doesn't seem to mind me blowing extra shells...so got to strike when the irons hot...LOL. I brought up how much cheaper, etc it would be if I got back into reloading....just not yet 9seems i have spent my yearly limit), i'll keep working it.

At this point I may just try the SST, my gun likes them and stacks them so nice I almost have to try.

Stubblejumper, have you ever used SST? I know you posted about the review, but any experiences you have or heard of with this bullet... for WT deer here Sask and we have similar shot ranges. (You also hunt here in the fall so you have a good idea about the size of animals, etc.) thanks.

Power hope your dose will yield you better results, let us know.

I'll let you know and thanks for the info!! I am tumbling brass right now and will probably load them up on Sunday. You've lit a fire under me as I don't have enough Partitions loaded to hunt with so if the Sciroccos don't shoot I'll have to use Bal. Tips.

After glass-bedding it seems my rifle can do no wrong so I've got hope. I like the idea of the Scirocco so I'm optimistic. I wish they would come out with a Partition w/ a Bal. tip on it. That would be a good combo, blow up the first half to expend the energy and still get half the bullet through for penetration and a blood trail.

Skeeter7mm-I have not tried the sst.After reading several tests on them I am not convinced they are any tougher than the ballistic tip.My luck has been so good with ballistic tips that I am not going to change to save a little money(sst
's are cheaper).I live in alberta and hunt in saskatchewan as well so my hunting conditions are the same as yours.With over thirty head of big game taken ballistic tips have not let me down yet.

Got some loaded and headed to the range either tomorrow or Monday. I'll post the results when I get back. If they shoot at 100 I'll try 200 and 300 to make sure they shoot well at those ranges too. I only loaded 30 of them and if they don't shoot I might have some for sale...

SJ, I too have taken deer and lopers with great results on the BT. It just so happened I was given the SST to try by my gunsmith and they flew dandy. He ran a batch up of handloads and they are tack driving. I actually didn't even consider price, that doesn't factor much in my desicion process. He's going to run some 150 gr Bt's, then I 'll decide following that. Thanks for your input.

Power, talked to my guy tonight and told him of my results. He said he hasn't been able to get the load right with Scirocco's, doesn't know what to do. If you find one that is good, let us know.

Power don't worry, get the wife to shoot your Elk or like my dad, he only takes 3 bullets, 1 for the animal and 2 quick fires to say...hey come help me drag my animal......LOL

Did some preliminary shooting tonight. Couldn't get my rifle to shoot worth crap. Just cleaned it and my theory is that it shoots better after 10-20 rounds.

Scirocco shot about the same as the BT's and Part.'s. My last group was acceptable though at around 2 1/2" at 200 yards.

Heading to range again tomorrow.
