What are you most likely to hunt? If your gun collection is vast and you like ecentric stuff, you might think about ole roys offerings, but the ammo is expensive and not very plentiful. So, I am sayin go with the 300 win mag. Cheaer and easier, tried and true! EJ

I am kinda biased on this subject. As far as ammo availability, I would have to rule out the Weatherby right away. between the other 2, it depends what you want. If you are going to stick with 150 -180 grain, its a personal preference thing. The WM has an advantage when you go to 200 grain. Right now the WM has an advantage on availability, but I think tohe WSM will eventually get there. Personally I would go with the Win mag, but that might just e because I own one.. LOL

It would be used mostly for whitetail, but I would lke to be able to go bigger game hunting when I get older. 300 RUM doesn't seem nearly as popular and I haven't seen ammo for it or SAUM. I would most likely use 150-180 grain, since I'm not doing in moose or elk hunting in the near future. Browning and Winchester advertise that WSM has the advantage in these weights but from what I've heard maybe that isn't fully true. The less recoil and weight on the WSM's sounds good, but being lighter, they might kick the same.

In my area the 300wm is still the most popular and has the widest selection of factory loads available. The 300wsm is becoming popular and the selection of available loads is growing. The 300ultramag is nowmore popular than the 300wby in my area and is becoming even moreso. As far as recoil is concerned, the lighter weight of the wsm rifles results in as much or more felt recoil than most 300wm rifles.

So is WM pretty much more powerful in every load? Not that the few ft-lbs of energy really matters, but it's nice to know. I'm loking right now and I can't find those numbers Browning and Winchester brag about with the WSM.
