Ruger m77 v. Weatherby Vangaurd

Ruger m77 v. Weatherby Vangaurd
Looking at a used Weatherby Vanguard with walnut stock for $319 or a new Ruger M77 for $459.Can't decide which way to go. I don't know if the Weatherby is a recall gun or not. Please any thoughts or opinions...

owners of weatherby firearms should get in touch with weatherby regarding their recall of rifle bolts of particular series of rifles.rifles with serial numbers within the following series are affected-00001 to 03810,v00001 to v80966,vx00001 tovx44065,vs00001 to vs23699, vl00001 to vl46984, w0001 to w0099, nv0001 to nv0099. rifles affected were manufactured between 1970 and 1993. ibelieve the above is correct-but contact weatherby and they will confirm if your rifle is affected.

Both are good guns and both will be accurate. I would go with the Ruger 77 Mk II. I have one in .223 and one in stainless 300 WSM and both will shoot a 1/2" group at 100 yards. I put a timney trigger on my .223 and I did a trigger job on my 300 WSM.My brothersMk II.223 will shoot 1/2" groups at 100 yards also and myfriends Mk II .260will also. I would not hesitate to buy or recomend a Ruger to anyone. Good Luck.
