Remington 700 LSS fires when you take it off safe

Well I have a remington 700 LSS and it now fires when you take it off safe, if the gun is onfire when you close the bolt the gun won't fire. Something is broke because it didn't do this before. If you close the bolt on safe it won't fire untill you move the safety to fire. I knew there was a recall for this problem but this gun is only a year old and less than 100 rounds. I'll post more when I drop it off at the remington repair facility.

keep that gun locked up tight until it gets fixed. you don't need anybody being hurt by accident.

It is a shame that the design even allows a parts failure to cause an inadvertantdischarge.

This is a possible, but very rare condition. Has anyone ever attempted adjusting the trigger to a lighter pull?

Ditto Roskoe.

I would suspect that your trigger has been adjusted excessively causing the trigger to not engage the sear when you flip the safety off and also causing the trigger and sear not to engage when you close the bolt.

The safety on a Remington seaperates the sear from the trigger when it is engaged. If the trigger is excessively adjusted to remove the take up (creep) the trigger and sear will not engage each other when you close the bolt nor when you flip off the safety thus not having anything happen when you close the bolt on fire and firing when you flip off the safety after closing the bolt with it engaged.

Remington 700's (I have a couple old ones) are well known for their questionable trigger/safety performance. Fortunately add on equipment is available to remedy the problem, but it is amazing that Remington persists with their design as it stands.

Trigger hasn't been adjusted, I've owned the gun since new. Talked to Remington today and they are very upset.

You let anyone touch it and you void the factory waranties.
Send it back to Remington!

Ditto Rebel Hog's advice. They should be upset. They have apparently sold you a somewhat dangerous implement. And they should fix it at no cost.
