Default RE: caliber Question

The .380 is a small rimless cartridge designed to be used in small semi auto pistols. It is generally considered a minimal self defense round. It fires a 90 grain bullet at 1000 fps.

The 38 special is a straight, rimmed cartridge and is designed to be used in revolvers. It can also be fired in guns chambered for the .357 magnum. It will fire a 125 grain bullet at 950 fps.

The .357 magnum is simply a longer version of the 38 special. it will fire a 125 grain bullet at 1450 fps.

The next time you are in a sporting goods store that has amunition out in the aisles open up a box of each and you will quickly see the differences. That is if you are 18 years or older.
