Does anybody have one of these yet ? And if you do what do you think about it. I have been thinking about a .25-06 but this one is interesting. Could make a really nice light high mileage rifle with enough power for deer at most any range I would think.

I wildcatted one of these from a .270 WSM a couple of years ago. Not a happy marriage. Maybe someday there will be a powder that is suitable for this application, but for now it has a really wide SD of velocity.
6.5 WSM is a ringer, though. Might be the best ofall the .264 high performance calibers.

Personally I would have preferred if winchester had just necked the 270wsm down to .257".That would have made a great cartridge.

I hear you and agree but it seems I have read in a couple places that it just did not work well enough to market. The WSSM is interesting in many ways but my biggest concern is how it feeds with that stubby case.

It will perform in the field just like the 25-06. I have read about feeding problems but since I already own a 25-06, I won't be trying the 25 WSM as it offers nothing more in terms of hunting performance. I have read good reports about their performance on deer size game and if they do as well as the 25-06 they would be a winner. A friend of mine has taken five Bull Elk with five shots with his 25-06 with Nosler Partitions.
