Default Hastings Slug Barrels?

Hey anyone use hastings slug barrels? I was looking at the 20 gauge one in the bass pro catalog. It is nice that it has a cantilever scope mount (remington doesn't make a cantilever 20 gauge barrel) and it is 4 inches longer than the remington barrel (24 inches). It also has a fast, 1 in 24", twist. Have you had good results with your hastings slug barrels? Thanks, Spence.

My buddy has a Hastings slug barrel on his BPS, cantilever mount. On his gun, it is extremely accurate.

The longer barrel is a plus. Most of todays high performance sabot slugs are designed for long barrels. I would consider 22+ the minimum for full utilization of their benefits. It seems 24in is the standard in dedicated slug guns currently.

The cantilever is also a must have for holding point of impact with a switch barrel gun.

Short of getting a new dedicated slug gun I don't think you can go wrong with that setup. Keep in mind that you should be prepare to spend some time and money at the range if you want to get the most out of your setup. Try a couple of different sabots to find out what shoots best in your gun. If would like advice on sabot choices feel free to ask...

Yes, I have had a Hastings Paradox Barrel on a BRN A-5 12ga for
a few years. With Win. BRI Sabots @ 150yds, I can bust a 4"Flood
Lamp bulb.
You have to watch out for Remington's first generationSolids.
Hastings has a Warning on the Internet, look it up!

My best buddy has one and I am not impressed compared to my factory remington barrel. Only thing it shot ok was lightfields. Everything totally sucked. He got the space age crazy looking barrel with the funky muzzlebreak. And with the warning of copper solids, I just don't see getting one over the factory remington.

Take the Hastings with the cantilever and extra barrel length, over theremmington without. When looking for accuracy the best anyone can do is stack the odds in their favor. That is what the hastings configuration will do for you.

Avoidthe barrel that Bigcountry is talking about. Having a muzzlebrake on a hunting shotgun is not a very smartbright ideaunless you plan on hunting all day long with hearing protection!

Remember as with any gun, it is your responsiblility to read manufacturers warnings and shoot approriate ammunition!

Jcc, it was Remington that had a problem with thier first generation
batch of Solids. Hastings was just warningpeople that were useing them in
thier barrels. I contacted Remington and they gave me the 1st generation
numbers. If I can find them I will post them.

We have observed that some of Hastings' replacement barrels have been damaged when customers used pre-1999 Remington Copper Soilid Sabot Ammunition with the specifications below:

Index/EDI No.
Gauge
Shell Length
Slug Weight

PR 12 MAG RS
12 ga.

Rebel,
Why do you refer that statement to me? I say nothing about Hastings being the problem.....? Clearly, if I thought they had a problem I would not be recommending that Goose purchase their product......
