Does anybody know if a Remington 700 ADL Youth model action/barrel will fit properly in a standard-sized Rem 700 ADL stock? I know the standard-sized and youth models have different barrel lengths and stock, but are they mechanically the same? Thanks.

Yes, mechanically, the regular ADL and the ADL Youth are EXACTLY the same. Other than the stock, the ONLY difference is the barrel length. (The ADL comes with a 22" barrel....the ADL Youth comes with a 20" barrel.)
I purchased an ADL Youth, in .308, specifically because I wanted the 20" barrel. I did exactly as you are thinking....simply switched to the adult-sized stock. Great rifle - I cannot say one negative thing about it.

You are quite welcome, Hunter74. I can and will recommend the 700 ADL very highly. I had two in .308....one the adult model (with the 22" barrel)...and the other the youth model (20" barrel). Both great rifles....capable of 1 MOA or less, with the right ammo. Once I changed the youth stock for an adult one (which I purchased on E-bay for $35.00)....the 20" ADL became my favorite rifle. In my opinion, the ADLs are the best rifle, for the money, in Remington's line. Too bad they were discontinued at the end of 2004.
