Its just that SD figures in slightly on the trajectory and wind drift. It doesn't matter to me but to some very serous long range varmiters I know, its pretty important. The 45 gr XBT drops 2 inches more at 500 yards than does the 53 Gr XBT when both start at 3700 fps. No big deal as most folks don't shoot varmits at 500 yards. Most rifles and scopes are not capable from the box of hiting prairie dogs at that range with any consistancy. Its alao true that there is a slight difference in BC between the two Barnes bullets.

get off it zrex ... flat means nothing to a deer hunter if your talking 40gr or 50gr bullets. simply put.....the 25-06 is a slightly better deer round than the 6mm. it will do with a 100gr what the 6mm will do with a 85gr. just like the 270 and elk debate. Is it enough? sure, but you limit yourself and there are better cartridges for the purpose. one big factor is recoil. the 25-06 will kick a little more, if recoil is a issue the 6mm will certainly take deer cleanly. if recoil is'nt an issue then the 25-06 will give you bit better performance.

James B - you cannon freak!!:D:Dwhy shoot that 25-06 that's gonna kick the crap out of you. [8D]If you cant drop a deer cleanly w/ a 6mm you shouldnt be allowed to hunt:D:D:D. Just kiding you james. your absolutely right about the 25-06 haveing a slight edge for deer.
