RE: How the .243 stacks up (part deux)
You know guys, I am just like joking sometimes. There's big everything all over. YOu talk to these guys here on the Eastern Shore of MD, and they will tell you its the trophy hunting capital of the East coast cause every year somebody gets a 250lb whitetail. You talk to the guys in NY. Same thing.
That don't mean any of us are going to get one. |
RE: How the .243 stacks up (part deux)
texhookem -Illinois is an agricultural area. It is loaded with beans, corn, and hay. Not food plots every fifty yards. I hate to break the news, but we don't mess with the deer as bad as you do. You use feeders. We do not. Plain and simple. And we still have quite a few monsters walking around. The deer here not only have the inches, they have the pounds.

RE: How the .243 stacks up (part deux)
I agree texans are big on deer management, we mess with our deer more, how is that a bad thing?
renfro whatever happend to our peace? Danny D, I am back but nothing directed toward Bigcountry, its him that i am through with. Danny D , What I am i supposed to do when there are people like renfro directed insults towards me after i said i was done? I try and end the arguement and then someone will shoot an insult my direction. I admit i have to little self control to let that fly and honestly what does this argument have to do with you? |
RE: How the .243 stacks up (part deux)
hahaha, see.
He came back for more |
RE: How the .243 stacks up (part deux)
Your the one that said we mess with our deer.
I by no means said that the deer in the midwest were smaller than Texas deer. They are equally as big if not bigger in some occasions. I said most states dont stack up to texas deer. Iowa has some monster deer as do many other midwestern states. And they do "mess" with their deer up there. Thats major food plot country. But i do not find that deer that have been messed bad, i feel people should try to improve their deer herd as much as possible. We don't put out feeders for them. I agree texans are big on deer management, we mess with our deer more, how is that a bad thing? I would just like to know wahts the difference between deer receiving their nutrition from corn or soy beans or from a feeder. Is there one? I am not even going to open this can of worms. Good luck to you young man. You have a lot of growing up to do. |
RE: How the .243 stacks up (part deux)
Growing up isnt gonna change nothing, I honestly do now know of one ranch in Texas that hunts whitetail deer without feeders. Its just how its done in Texas. I once read an article in Texas Fish and Game article i wish I could show you. It was about an arguement between a hunter from some northern state and a the author from texas about hunting over a feeder.

RE: How the .243 stacks up (part deux)
WOW taken out of context, You know exactly what i mean! Im speaking in regard to the practice of using feeders. Honestly tell me what the difference is between setting up in a blind over a corn feeder or setting up in a tree stand looking out across a corn field?
Actually please dont respond to that because I really would like to end this NOW!!!! For some reason whenver i see something that seems to be direcetd towards me i just can help but say something and i really want this to end. Ive argued enough will all these people. |
RE: How the .243 stacks up (part deux)
The corn I hunt on is about 2000 yards across and 600 wide. The feeder my budy set up is About 2 foot across.
The deer come to his hunting spot.LESS THAN !)) YARDS The deer come to my hunting spot 1000s or yards. corn stands 7 foot tall.LOTS of space for deer to hide. Feeder hung in tree over OPEN spot in woods NO where for deer to hide. Corn is sut when WEATHER OR FARMER says so. Feeder feeds EVERY DAY YOU WOULD LIKE IT TO. I gess you are right no difrance in feeders or any outher way. By the way you should do some back ground on where your deer came from in TX. I bet you would never know :} |
