KIMBER 8400M in 270 WSM
Made a mistake going into my local dealer on Saturday. He had one of these on display and it was very hard to leave the store without it. It took all my will power to say no thank I'll think about it. Especially tough when he deeply discounted it. BTW this one had a beautifully grained stock.

I have 2 more rifles to purchase ..approximate price should be about 1500-2000 for both of them. That is not counting the one I pickup next week. I figure when I am done all three should cost about 30,000+ after I buy her a new car.

OEH,
Oh, no! Not the old "If you buy something, I get to buy something" trade-off. You can't win that one. At least I've never been able to. I bought a cruise last time I made that deal. Now I go by the old "It's easier to apologize than it is to ask permission" line. BTW, Never mention this line in front of wives....It seems to absolutely infuriate them.

Sounds like most men in America fight this battle. My wife says the litmus test is to ask any man to see his wallet. Empty it completely out. If there are one or more $100 bills in there that his wife doesn't know about . . . . .

I been married 6 whole months. I am waiting for the fit to hit the shan about my hunting trips this year. I hunt three seasons in colorado and a week for whitetail in oklahoma. I would love a 270 WSM but I figured that I would have to hunt half as much to financially justify it, so I just hunt it all with the 12 guage and the 30-06.
Would a seasoned married fella tell me the secret to getting your wife to BUY you a rifle? EJ

So, how long do you have to be nice before it works? Naw, she is a good one. She actually encourages me to hunt, she comes from a hunting family. She wants to pheasant hunt and loves to fish. In fact, she caught a pound and a half lake trout in lake grandby on saturday.
Maybe, I should buy her a rifle instead? EJ

after you buy her that rifle you can go ahead and get her that new chainsaw she's been wanting.
Yes, permission is WAY harder than forgiveness.
I am only a 1.5 year married pup myself, but being just nice seems to work. Convincing them of the investment value isn't a bad idea and MIGHT have some pull. Especially since you enjoy it, she's probably not going to blow a fuse if you can show her that most of the $$$ you spend on guns is just as good as puting that money in a savings account.

oldelkhunter, I just curious, what does a a discounted 270 WSM look like to a bank account ? I am contemplating nixing the 270 single thing and just saving dough until I can afford a nicer one? EJ
