Default Spinning Reel

The Mitchell 300. Especially the one I bought back in the early 60's

Penn (best salt water spinner around) and Shimano. Oldies but goodies - my first spinner the old Mitchell 301 (for lefties) and Shakespeare. They don't make em that tough any more.

I have several brands Abu Garcia, Quantum, Zebco among others, but my all time favorite is the 50yr old (approx) Mitchell 301 that my uncle gave me when he gave up fishing years ago. It's been to a Mitchell repair clinic once and had the handle replaced, cost me about $5.00 at the time (late 60's).The problem was not the reel but my uncle the modifier.

I really like the Garcia spinning reels, but i like the shimano's just a bit more, in part because of the trigger option. baitcasting defintely hands down to Abu Garcia, can't beat 'em. Both Shimano and Abu Garcia are great reels, especially the high end models.

I have always been a Zebco man myself. The equipment is cheap but still good, and it's not such good quality you need to guard it from theft. I keep a Zebco 33 in my truck almost all summer.
