Buzzin' Frog Pike.......
#1
Well this spring me and 2 buddies went up to Cut Beaver Lake in Saskatchewan. Its a real remote lake and only accesable by a long channel that funnels into the lake. So went boated back into the lake and camped for the weekend. We were fishin real shallow water for pike and lots of times we were right in the cattails and lily pads. My buddy through on a top water Buzzin' Frog and tossed it into the reeds. The action was awesome. He had an extra lure so i put on a frog also. We watched pike come up and surface to nail our hooks all weekend. My only complaint about this lure is that you only have 2 hooks on the lure and sometimes u cannot hook the pike when they strike. But i guess that is a trade off for the hook to be weedless. Anyways i was just wonderin how many of you guys have tried the buzzin frogs and how did u like them?

I have a couple of those frogs. They really get their attention, but I have the same problem. It seems like any kind of popping lure, they always miss on the first or second strike, because they are really aggressive.Ive had alot of success using those lures TO lure them out of heavy cover. After they strike,I have another pole setup with a large jointed Reble[with treble hooks],that I throw at the area that he came from and reel in moderatly over the strike zone from the other lure.It seems like alot of work, but when you get used to the rotation, its not bad.I have caught some real doozies using this method. It took me a couple of years to figure this out,but thats what fishing is all about.

I've used weedless frogs while pike fishing in Ireland. The action is amazing!! I find cover that I think will hold pike, throw out a cast and make the frog splash and try to spark the pike's predatory instincts. I also made the frog lure 'hop' from one lilly pad to the next and let it go in the water between the pads. There's nothing like catching a pike on those frogs. I've also had the same problem with having a pike missing, but its worth it in my opinion.
