Default Crappie Fishing

I took a break from deer hunting this afternoon and took my father crappie fishing since it was 80 degrees. We caught 21 keepers in about 3 hours. Kinda hard to find right now but it usually picks up around Thanksgiving. Anyone else like to crappie fish?

I live in southern minnesota and like to crappie fish when the walleyes arent bitting on the mississippi. When i dont have the time to drive to the mississippi I like to fish on the Zumbro River less than 15 minutes from my house. Its a lot of fun to see that slip bobber disappear. For me they always seem to bite when i am not paying attention, haha, usually tying another line or something. I do like crappie fishing on the backwaters of the mississippi because we can use 2 lines per person but its fun none the less.

I LOVE TO CRAPPIE FISH!!!! I love using small line...usually two or four pound test line when i crappie fish. This year me and my fishing buddy went to Truman Lake in Mo and we killed them. A cold front came in and no one was catching anything. All the guides were going out and coming back with only twou or three fish. I waited untill 9 0'clock pm and we jigged around the docks and killed them..got about thirty a night...saying we only fished for about 1 hour for them {we mainly were fishing bass, and catfish}. They put up a nice little fight. A great fish to get started on abecasue when they bite they dont stop.

Does your fishery sustain 21 keepers. (I presume you killed them all.)
How do you utilise 21 fish?
i.e. Consume them all yourselves, or share with friends.
What are your bag limits on this species?

Tim Buma, the limit on crappie is 30 per day per person. Yes, I do enjoy eating them and sharing them with friends.

Sounds like full-on action and a lot of fun.
Do you have any photos of these fish?

I love crappie fishing too. I haven't seriously done it in years though. I've been halfway around the world and no place I've been compares to the crappie fishing my dad and I did in NE Texas when I was a kid. We went one tiime and caught 62 and the smallest was over 2lbs. Man I miss that place. I've taken up turkey hunting since and haven't been much.
