I used to tie flies when I focused on trout and salmon. I now fish mainly pan fish and use mostly soft plastics. I will drown a worm from time to time or use a cut bait but always fall back on the plastics.

Never ventured down that Rabbit Hole with tying flies... It looks incredible from what I've seen, but with my eyesight and needing +2.50 reading glasses all the time, I doubt I could tie a fly from a kit at all, from those various sites on the internet.

I have a ball creating my own inline spinners, weedless grubs, daredevle spoons, etc... and that in itself helps keep me sane (well.... semi sane!! )

See?

Those are all good multipurpose lures that will catch just about everything that swims Butch. I used to use a lighted magnifying glass on a swivel arm that bolted to my fly tying table for the small stuff.
