Default Wolf River Walleye Run is On! (Wisconsin)

The walleyes appear to be running good on the Wolf River. Been watching the cams (wolfrivercam.com) and have not seen a single walleye til today. But as of today there are plenty showing up!

My dad and I used to fish this run when I was a kid growing up. Just down from Devil's Elbow at the Gill's Landing was our favorite place. And during the mid-day we would go up the Waupaca River for the suckers, which I enjoyed even more than the walleyes - the suckers were huge and we would fill up a gunny sack with them .

At any rate, if you are near, give it a try. A 3-way Wolf River rig with a minnow jigged in the current works great. We found that using a large wire hook threaded through the mouth, out the gills and then in the back allowed us to hook more fish.
