Default Picked Up My New Combo

Well, just picked up a sweet combo for a heck of a deal.

Quantum Energy PTxm MetalX and a St. Croix Avid Casting Rod for Bass. I bought this specifically for the reel, which (next week!) will convert to my salmon slammer.

I think I'll have to fish the afternoon away to test out this bad boy.

Bought the combo for $100.00, retail for the both is $379.92

Is that deal open for us as well or just for you? I'd take one in a heart beat for 100.00

Honestly dose the reel backlash easily..does it cast a long ways?

I know awhile ago someone recomended a certain reel to me..I bught it ..it was haorrib.e LOL BACKLASH CITY I quickly returned it to Walmart.

That's one heck of a deal..at 200.00 it would have been a good deal.

This was a Craigslist deal, if it was an open deal I would have emptied out my bank account....

C7, casts like a dream. I caught a fish on my first cast ever fishing the rod in water. I begin with a 1/2 Booyah Black/Blue jig. I knew this would be very easy to flip due to its weight and short distances. As I stated, first flip, fish on.

Very shortly after, I put on the crankbait shown which was quiet light. My first cast was a terrible overcast. Slight backlash. Played with the settings a little and the advanced brake system. Every cast on was great.

Next put on a willow leaf spinner bait (I believe 3/8ths). Played with settings, every cast great. Second cast using spinnerbait catch decent bass.

Next and lastly the big test, baitcaster and senkos. I put a finesse hook on the braid, hook on a 7inch watermelon candy, and set the settings/braking system. Continue to catch many fish on senkos, generally small, backlash free.

Needless to say, the rod is superb. My only thought in the beginning was that it was a little lite for flippin'. Then I realized I've got myself one flippin' stick already so I might as well continue this as a finesse baitcaster, so thats what it is.

I'd say it was a thumbs up deal.

Now, Friday I am heading over to an acquaintence that is a Quantum Rep. He sent me an e-mail and told me his 2011 shipment just came in. Man, I am happy we took him Salmon fishing last year. Sucking up really helps ya out.

WOW!! that was a great deal...I like the 6.2 ratio and long casting..My pfluger is a nice solid reels but the casting distance is lacking..at least for a 150.00 reel. My 50.00 Quantum is my furtherest caster I have ..Go Quantum [ -;

I'm sure if that was a Bass Pro sale or such we would all buy 2 or 3.LOL
