Putt
I haven't fished it yet but I understand there is about 8" everywhere from tyler place around the corner to the new bridge. The ice that is caught is great and with no snow and cold temps everything is getting nice. They are starting to ride wheelers all over up here now.
That's interesting CI, do they have any way of regulating a limit?

That must be pounds of fish, not pounds of meat?
That is right BH 14 it is pounds of whole fish. Head, skin, meat and guts. The limits on any fish are regulated according to the watershed and the biological assessments. Lake Champlain is very big 120 miles long and 14 miles wide at the widest point and the biologists feel that the pan fishery is so vast that taking unlimited fish by hook and line won't deplete the resource. I have been commercial fishing since 1990 and it seems to just get better and better.

Other areas for pike are Delenbac bay, Macomb bay (pauquettes by the north hero motel) and Carry Bay aka birdland. Some real big ones come at the south side of the sandbar (willow bay) in spring at last ice. Today was a good first day for flat fish with 2 sevens filled around 90 pounds.

Have you ever seen parasites on the meat? I fish a lot but dont eat fish at all. My roommate who does said that a lot of the times there are parasites in the bluegills so they dont even bother skinning and eating them anymore. (THis is Minnesota)

I have heard of some bad Bluegills that have black specks in the fillets. I have heard it is from an untolerable amount of duck/goose/swan feces.

Most of the lakes I fish are exteremly clean and I never really have worried about it.
