I will be back with a detailed report...like you read in Bass Master Magazine..LOL
I'll be bringing 3 rods...
A. Drifiting a 7 1/2 black Culpret..on a baitcaster..20 lb. Power Pro
either Texas rigged or Trick..not sure..
B. Casting either a black or red treble hooked 3/8 ounce white Rooster tail..I brought both..both have 12 pound mono Trilene XL
One medium heavy ..one medium..both are locked and loaded ..
Notes..we are 2 days before a full moon..should be good..this side of Saddle Creek is least pressured...usually just me fising it..magor feeding time today 11:00 AM ...boat launch time 6:15...mosquitoes are wicked if you go any earlier..quit time...not sure..
Water temp has been 85 degrees. Fishing the Rooster Tail should allow me to fish the entire place in 4 - 5 hours..Last Sunday Matt and I did our best using our favorite lures and only had 5 hits total..so ..there ya go..Weather is HOT..Forecast is scattered thunderstorms in the late morning..this may be good..I like fishing before the rain..

NOt much to report on..Saddle Creek is not a good Rooster Tail situation anymore..since hydrilla has taken over..but I did the best I could,,
6:25 still dark..but I launched the boat...went to Still Pond..I have names for all my places LOL...tied on a Horny Toad and used the red hooked Rooster..ZERO
7:00 Moved to the open flats..9 foot deep..Rooster ...drifted worm nothing.
Switched to Rooster Black Hooks
7:15..Zipped on down to the Clear Pit...nothing...
7:45 Zipped on down to my Spot one between 2 islands..BINGO...hung this stocky young fellow..and I was impressed with the hook set..

Fished a rock bar...
and a few points..BANG!!! my 2nd Rooster Tail stocky guy's little brother. { -:
9:15 arm is tired from casting..cast a black worm ...tap tap ...hook set #3 boated..
9:45..Tap tap ..went to set the hook..missed him.DANG!!
Adn that was it..Weather HOT HOT HOT no wind..went home.
C7
Special Note of interest...
8 or 10 pound Ttrilene would have been unuseable..full of kinks..surprizingly enough the 12 wasn't doing to badly.

m.t. I have a plastic container filled with trebles..I bought the trebles when the local tackle shop was going out of business..I have a nice selection of 2 , 4 and 6 hooks..I think what I got will work...
I wish there was a way to attach a treble hook without the aid of a split ring...If that was the case..the #4 s would work perfectly..but they stick out a little too far for my liking..I may order some of those things you recoommeded after I explore a few more places...I wish they hid the hooks better..

You should be plenty fine with a number 4 Chuck, its the same hook we use for 40 lb King Mackerel here lol, but its also the same hook we always replaced the stock hooks on a Bang-O-Lure, the 4 Excalibur TX3, but without the dressing on it. Nice little fish there on the rooster, looks like the hooks are working well.
Good Luck,
Brent
