You should do ok around the drop if you know what depth they are holding at. Although I must admit I keep forgeting about all that hydrilla you have down there. We only have a little bit of that up here..

6:30 AM...Horny Toad got attacked by a 4 1/2 pounder...She was 21 inches long..
My neighbor doesn't fish alot but decided to cast a Carolina Rig with a big ole fluke..We were anchored on an island and casting into 10 foot ..

We both missed 2..[&:]My first one ..she ran I felt fish and 7 inches of the worm was in the fishes gut because I only had 1 inch of worm when I reeled in my line. However; we found the fish next week supposed to be the weekMon.-Sat.

Here's my 4 1/2 off Horny Toad

It was weird man..I took out my neighbor..Kevin..he was using a typical topwater to no advail. Before we quit I said,"I have one more place a topwater may work."

I cast in an area that was total hydrilla and about 3 feet deep..I got a small boil..I waited...nothing..[&o]my line didn't move or nothing..I said,"Kevin ,your supposed to let him take it..like a rubber worm." After 5 seconds I reeled in the slack to start the swishing of the Horny Toad again..Well, lo and behold ..the fish had the toad all the time swimming toward the boooat..[:-]SO I reeled in fast and Set the hook....I yelled "good fish man....get the net ...hurry man!!!" and.safely in the boat...she went..

Thanks gangly..I needed one or Horny Rod was going to retire real soon.,[8D]

Next week is a good week to use a Horny Toad every morning..they should be feeding real good

[ul][*]Thanks Phil,
Here's my summer strategy...
Two rods..I think the Carolina Rig has opened alot of possiblities for me..I'm glad I didn't sell my two 7 foot medium heavies..Drifting a fluke or worm can catch a 10 pounder..

One7 ' Baitcaster Med. Rod.for ...The Horny Toad has got the most big bass for me this year..so that will stay put..

One Spinning Rod..When fish are jumping ...nothing beats a Rooster Tail and is my 2nd place lure for boating bass over 5 pounds..

Two Spinnning Rods..If all fails I have 2 shiner rods rigged and ready..

One 6 1/2 foot Baitcaster..I also will keep a Terminator on..I've never did real good with BIG BASS but I ran into a man 2 weeks ago that has boated over 25 ten pounders with that lure..I will use this rod to switch over to crankbaits sometimes..

One 6 1/2 foot baitcaster..And last but not least..I got my Texas Worm Rod..for flipping, pitching, jigging and casting.

That is my set up for the summer.. So I will carry 6 rods with me all the time..When I shiner fish the Carolinas stay home and when I Carolina Fish the shiner rods stay home.
Phil..I hope ya get a moose this year.. [/ul]

Try a Texas rig with a compact bait, and peg a HEAVY sinker (1 oz or more). Load it up with megastrike (makes it slippery), and PUNCH the bait through the middle of the grass. The biggest bass in the lake will be in the weeds, not just on the edges or on top.

Thanks Josh..
Josh..don't you worry about the bass when he picks up that heavy weight ..thinking thebait is too heavy to be a real bait..?
