Search the web for info on the fish you' re after and talk to your Division of Wildlife. The biologists should have reports of when they should start spawning. Sorry I don' t have any more precise info.

Default RE: spawning season for bass?

I am from GA, so I sure don' t know about the time period of Maine, but I can give you some general guidelines. Bass start spawning at 60 degrees at 65-70 degrees the majority of the spawning activity occurs. Spawning usually stops at 80 degrees. In the north their might only be one spawn. In the south fish might spawn three or more times. The clearer the water the deeper the fish will spawn 2-4 feet is average, but they can spawn as deep as 10 or so. Also, fish prefer to spawn on sand or gravel beds with cover nearby, weed beds or stumps or logs usually. To protect the fry from predators. I don' t know anything about Pike, Muskie, or Walleye. I do know some about Crappie and Bluegills as far as I know most fish follow similar patterns, but the water temperature is usually different. Hope this helps.
