I am not real sure what kind of duck it was to be truthfull, It was a little large for a green wing teal. At first i thought it was a mallard. As I got closer i could tell it wasn't so that is one duck i will have find out what it is. The little bird on the rock is some kind of a snipe and should have been in the mud. I was kind of surprised by the way it just sat there on the rock and I never botherd it at all as I paddled by it. I was quite shocked to see it still setting there whenI came back down. It looked as though it was lost just sitting there like that. But, as stated above they really do not see to many people in this area. WhereIput my canoe in near the ripps is a big island called Black Cat Island and the ripps run on both sides of it. Brookies have come out of there up to 4 pounds and I always wanted to try and fish it. I left my canoe hidden up there and will go back in as soon asI can get a chance as i am hoping to catch one of those large brook trout.

Nice to see you back even for a brief moment Phil. I have been doing a little turkey hunting and a lot of work around the house. I built a new flower bed wall and sidewalk at the house and got some of my garden planted. I put in the dock and lift but the boat is still under the cover. I had to replace my trolling motor this year and need to get that mounted before I fish. I hope the holes line up but I doubt that will happen since the old motor was 15 years old. Stay in touch and good fishing for those monster squaretails....Frank

Thanks guys, I hope you have had some good luck with the turkeys C.I. We have a few showing up here as they have a big stocking program going on up this way. Other than that I would have to travel quite a ways to hunt for them.

Chuck, the answer is a greenwing teal however it was a large one about the size of a black duck..

Bownut you are correct after looking it up it is in fact a Solitary Sandpiper..

Here is a pic of the piebald deer I have been seeing. However it did not give me a very good pic as it saw me. The pic of it as it was walking away. The minute the flash went off it run into the woods.
