around 7-8lbs on a live nightcrawler, number 8 circle hook, through the collar of the worm once, ultra light spinning tackle with no weight, just make a light pitch light twicth as it falls, when it hits bottom lift and do it again and again, you;ll catch fish

My biggest from a farm pond was a 7 lb largemouth last summer. I caught it on a 4" flippin' tube, Texas rigged. It was the first time I tried a tube in that pond & was my first cast. I usually use a 4" skirted twin-tail grub, Texas rigged. At this particular pond it' s not uncommon to catch 15-20 in the 2-3 lb range in just half an hour. It' s one of the ponds used for irrigation on the sod farm where my wife & I are renting a house. It' s nice to be able to fish for 1/2 an hour or so after work most nights. The ice finally melted 2 weeks ago & they' ve already started hitting a little on small flippin' jigs but the action is still pretty slow.

I like to stick to the basics. I use a medium hook, a sinker, and nightcrawlers. I like to jig off the bottom of the pond. If there are to many weeds than i stick to the good ole bobber.

When I was a kid about 30 years ago you could fish for spawning bass here. I use to spot whoppers sitting on their beds and toss a nightcrawler on #6 hook to them. Biggest I got was 7-4. But I caught many 5 and 6 pounders.

The largest pond/lake bass I ever caught was with a Mister Twister yellow grub spinner bait. While my fishing buddy was the only person to handle it (we were in a canoe) I can' t swear to it but he estimated it to be between 10 and 12 pounds. It was a big old fat female absolutely full of eggs. Biggest darn bass I ever saw. My friend had taken me to this " hot spot" and got mad when I considered keeping the fish so we decided to throw her back. I have regretted not having proof of that catch ever since.
I can' t seem to find those Mister Twisters around this area any more. Too bad too because I caught a lot of fish with that lure before I lost it.
