Quick Question
Mygrandfather has some property thatI hunt on andit has a really small river down there. We are planning on going in a couple of weeks to clean up the property and I was going to do some fishing. I have consistently caught bluegill down there. So if there is bluegill in there, do ya'll think there are catfish in there?
Thanks

RE: Quick Question
Depends on how small a river you are talking in my opinion. We have very few rivers in the North that hold Bluegill so I may not know my facts about the South. I do know that catfish like a muddy bottom, and usually some depth.
Others may be of better insight though, good luck.

RE: Quick Question
It's fairly shallow but around the bends it gets deeper. As you can imagine, theres plenty of cover(fallen timber, whatever that grass is called, lilly patches)

RE: Quick Question
It's right out side of Stapleton. I guess if there's no one with some opinions, there's only one way to find out. Go down there and get the line wet. Thanks for trying buckhunter14

RE: Quick Question
Well I asked the same question on another forum and they said if theres alot of bluegill in there, there probably won't be a lot of catfish. But there isn't a huge population of bluegill in there. So with that in mind, I'm still looking for some opnions. Thanks

RE: Quick Question
I not real familiar with the south, but I would imagine that if there are some deeper holes or some undercut banks that there should be some catfish in there. Also, what kind of structure is there along the banks? Any downed trees, stumps, etc.? I've found these to be good for holding cats on smaller rivers and creeks in my neck of the woods.
