I not real familiar with the south, but I would imagine that if there are some deeper holes or some undercut banks that there should be some catfish in there. Also, what kind of structure is there along the banks? Any downed trees, stumps, etc.? I've found these to be good for holding cats on smaller rivers and creeks in my neck of the woods.
