catfish hooks

i need help with hook size...ive switch to Kahle hooks the last 2 years or so and man did my hook up ratio dramatically increase. i honestly rarely miss a fish if i let him take the bait properly. before i was using regular hooks and even tried circles. the kahles are the ticket for me...i love them.
i just got serious about fishing live bait for bigger cats last summer. this summer i wanna get even more into it spending every friday and saturday night on the river bank.
i usually fish 3-6 inch creek minnows and chubs..and will be fishing the same sized bluegills this year...both live. occassionally ill cut up a chub just to see what happens. i think live is the way to go still though..
what size hooks do i need to fish bait of that size???
also..where do you guys hook your live chubs and bluegills to keep them alive and working best for flatheads??
thanx guys

id use a 3/0 or 4/0 in the khale style hooks.
edit: for fishing live bait I like to hook them in the bone of the skull just infront to exactly lined up with the nostrols. besure not to hook behind the nostrols because you will hit the brain and kill it. another good spot is just behind the the dorsal fin about an 1/8th inch above the lateral line if you go below the lateral line then you will sever the spine paralizing the fish and hindering the performance of the bait. good luck
