bird i use a palomar knot, sounds like what your tying, on some braids they have a coating, some do not, power pro does itand makes knot tying easier, don't remember right off the others that coat or don't coat, the palomar knot is supposed to retain 80%+ line strenght, and it pretty much my favorite, plus its quick and easy

huntnbud, thanks for the heads up on the vanish, i'm kind of partial to berkley but i did not care for the gorilla braid they had[:@], but as far as tough mono, big game is bad news

Maybe I'm the only one who found this.. But I tried powerpro on my texas rig setup, and it was just TOO sensitive. I would feel a bite, set the hook, and come up empty. Switch to mono and I immediately started hooking the fish. However, Its great on a carolina rig in deep water. For everything else, I use Yo Zuri Hybrid.

I used Spider Wire for a while....until some other braids came out. Then I started comparing them. There is a wide variety of briads out there now to choose from . It's hard to know which one to chose from .That's why I like talking about products on here. we re pretty much non bias here and can give a pretty good review.

The Power Pro line - does it has a outside covering on the braid? - does it function more like mono on the reel - I have had trouble with the braided line wrapping around the tip of the rod - Thanks for your replies!

Good question ...Stren Braid is bad about wrapping around eyelets...but it gets bites and is strong. I didn't go fishing this morning. I decided to make breakfast for my wife and fellowship with her. I get one more week off before i go back to school. One more week to fish .My wife had to go back to school early for she is the Network Manager of our school. I'll get some of that Power Pro today and give it a good work out next week. Then I'll give my honest opinion. Looks good when I opened up a package in Wally. My problem is I don't know whether to go with 20 pound or higher.

Sure thing Chuck 7 - give me some input on the Power line - I am curious - I am thinking about going with the 8dia or 10 dia which is rated for 30-40 lbs! What about color - white - is that white or flourescent clear like mono?

I swear by Spiderwire Fusion. Great all around line for the price. Problem is, they seem to have stopped making the stuff .
