I use to catch bass with nightcrawlers by using a bobber. I haven't fished nightcrawlers in a coon's age. I do fish rubber worms though. I mostly use teh Texas Rig. And yes.. I bump the worm very slowly. I start teh worm at 10:00 ans bump to the 11:30 position. When you feel a hit..drop th erod to 8:00 and point the rod tip at the fish. When the line is pulled out straight ....Set the hook hard over your head.

I mostly use a 7" curlytail power worm in black , pumpkinseed , or motor oil . I texas rig ,withor without weight depending on the current , on a slow hopping retrieve on the bottom . If things get slow I'll use a beetle spin on the worm rig and ripit over weedbeds and see who wants to play tag .

well since u said powerbait im gona assume u mean the paste bait for trout. When using nightcrawlers or powerbait for trout i cast out and just let it sit. i put just enough weight on 2 let the powerbait sink and with nightcrawlers i use no weight if the current isnt strong and let it slowly drift. Id just cast em out and let em sit.

depending on where your fishing makes a difference, nightcrawlers anywhere with a good current i would use a heavy weight and let it sit on the bottom. in a pond or somewhere with minimal current a bobber is the way to go.
If your fishing soft plastics, use a texas rig, carolina rig, or my personal favorite wacky style. about the only color i use anymore is green pumkin red, it seems to produce the best results no matter where im at. but if your fishing in clear water white and some other bright colors are good to have in your bag. depending on how the fish want it is for you to find out but wacky style i use a slow retrieve, kind of swim it very slow, the texas rig i like to jig it slowly and bounce it off the bottom, and a carolina put on some heavy line and heavy weight and drag that bad boy through the dirt.
