Default Need tips for bigger fish

Hi folks,

Found this new pond a company uses for fire protection, its about four acres in size. Not much underwater structure but does have heavy weed beds and thick moss covering the bottom. For the past few days I have caught about 100largemouth on rooster tails gliding them over the weed beds and rubber worms bouncing on the bottom.

Now here is the issue, every bass looks like it came from a "cookie cutter". Almost everyone is about two pounds, cant seem to find the bigger fish?

Any tips?

Thanks

might not be any bigger fish! I know that sometimes if some fish arnt kept, and to many live in the same water, that the size of thet fish are usually smaller because there is no room to grow.

might try some big soft plastics to get thebigger boys interested if they are there.....like 10 inch worms

You could try like big crankbaits or spinner baits I can't help you with the worms because I have never had luck with Plastic worms.

Early in the morning I'd try a topwater { Torpedo ..white} When I use topwater the fish get bigger. In Florida when folks pay guides for a trophy the guides always have them use wild shiners. If your mossy water keeps you from using topwater I'd go with a softfloating bait .

15" lizards

Use baits that the 2 lbers would be scared of. Beef up your tackle, and throw a 12" snake, 6 or 7" rapala.

depending on the time of year especially during post spawn patterns you will need bigger baits for the bigger fish. from my experience the only time small baits seem to catch big fish is during winter into the pre spawn or late fall. being weed beds Id use a big weedless plastic like a texas rigged 10 inch or bigger lizard or worm rigged weedless and run it along the top of the weeds and when you hit a pocket let the lure drop into it and be ready to set the hook.
