I am a huge fan of both.If I chose one ..it would be the 3/8th ounce White Rooster Tail
I've landed many bass over 5 pounds and one catfish nearly 12 pounds.
Panther Martin..I've got about 8 in my box and troll with them when looking for bluegills. They also are the only lure I know to catch Nile Perch.
I never run out of Rooster Tails and stayed stocked up.Best spinner made.Only flaw...small hooks. Also must be use with a rod no heavier than medium or the blade won't turn. Here is a nice catfish I caught on a Rooster tail. He bent it like a pretzel

Another vote for the rooster tail here. I have caught more smallmouth, crappie, and northern pike on them than ANYTHING else!! I don't know if it's a certain noise or flash that it has, but it's deadly where I fish.

My friend...
In my humble opinion I think it's alot of things..
1. Hackle hides the hooks
2. Skinny bait that looks realistic
3. Nice colors available.
4. nice flash
Bonus...not alot of resistance on the reel gears and will cast a long ways to cover alot of water. Also a great count down lure. Before I had a depth finder my Rooster Tail was the depth finder. Count one thousand one ..one thousand two etc. until line is slack and it's pretty darn close in feet deep. I buy 007 in 3/8th from Cabelas.

I have to say I like both but for small water the Martin is tops. Back before this flyfishing thing I was a hard core spinner fisherman. For a long time I made my own, but they were never as nice as the ones ya could buy. I have caught alot of fish on the Martins but have landed somebig trouton the old Rooster Tails.
Another spinner that I like alot is a silver Blue Fox "Vibrex", hope they still make them.
It is funny this topic came up, just yesterday a freind and I went and checked out a smalll spring feed creek, just alittle pre season scouting trip. Man was this place made for spinners, I may have to go back on my evil ways and fish the old line twister once again. It has been a long time, wonder if I can still flip one?
Trout season opens next weekend, cant wait.

Guss,
For where you fish at..I would totally agree with the Panther Martin. Awesome lure. Especially the Martin fly with that little orange hackle. Bluegills down here destroy that little jewel .

Chuck, you must keep records of your fishing trips or ya havea great memory. On a side note check out the bird I shoot on the Traditional Thread, it is under "how do ya get blood off of an arrow", I was trying to be funny.
Vary soon I hope to have a fish or twoin theturny. Weather has been great and the water is warming up fast.
