Well, I bit the bullet yesterday. Temperatures were high here, snow's melting, and the shops are biting at the bit to get their old inventory out the door. I picked up a St. Croix medium power fast action 8.5' casting rod with Shimano Catula model 400 reel.

Now all I'm waiting for is the ice to melt and season to open. Can't wait.

St Croix makes agreat rod. I have 4 or 5 of there older glass trollers that I use for lake trout and summer salmon. They are vary nice, you will be happy with the rod.
