Walmart has lots. The one I put in my 14 year olds hands did a great job yesterday. He handled a 6 1/2 pound bass with no problem on 10 pound test Trilene.

A 6' medium heavy spinning Lightening Rod. 29.99 Lifetime guarantee.
The reel ..Abu Garcia spinning reel 6 bearing drive. 35.00 Comes with an extra spool.
Model 103

You'll love it ,it's smooth , confident and great control. The drag is wonderful.; no hang ups so far. The medium heavy could land salmon , catfish,or bass.

You are welcome. However ; to be honest with ya it's hard only having one rod. but if I had one and was going salmon fishing it would be the one I told ya about.

However for me..I need 8 rods

2 for carolina drifting / worming for bass
2 light rods for pan fish
2 spinning for spinners and top water.bass and pan fish
2 6' baitbasters for worming and cranking.

I agree with Chuck, if your really going to get into this sport you need more than one rod. However many of us carry too much junk into the boat. When I was a tournament fisherman, I had more junk than a sporting goods store. Not only did I bring along 8-10 rods, I had a huge tackle box, spinner bait box, worm bags and so on...
Now I fish for fun and relaxation, I have incorporated everything into one large tackle box, and a max of four rods in the boat..
Still the number one thing I desire if fishing is a problem free trip.

Only 8 Chuck?

Heck, I carry 21 Bass Pro Pro Qualifiers, Shimano Curado combos on my boat, plus a Diawa L&T flipping rod with a Shimano Curado.

No wonder my boat takes about 4 seconds to plane out [8D]

I have 31 rod and reel setups and a half dozen other reels I'll switch out with other reels and use on other rods for other purposes. last month I bought 3 more rods and 2 reels. And already planning on buying another reel next week. And the wife says "Dont you already have enough fishing rods?" Trust me I have a use and purpose for everyone I own. Then just last week the wife is thinkin she gonna make a deal with me..... she says "Before you buy any more fishing rods, I want you to sell a couple of the ones you dont use anymore first" LMAO I said OK, which is alright because I still use all of them. I can only imagine the look on her face when this next reel shows up at the post office. LOL.

I only have four.....and so far its alright, but i will be getting more as time goes on.

Ihave a 4'6'' pflueger microspin ultralight with a pflueger trion gx for trout and panfish
a 6'6'' ML berkley lighting rod for smallmouth with a basspro qualifier reel
and two 6' medium action bass pro qualifiers for bass with a abu garcia 300 and a shimano ax2000ra

they do me fine for now, abut its better to have a rod for every situation....
