RE: Any Lake Trout fishermen?
It all dependes were you fish.
In fish the south shore Of lake Superior. In the spring we get them in 190ft to 230 ft down, we bounce bottom with down riggers riged with spoons, flyes/sucker, and a lure called peanuts. As summer rolleson they start to move in to shallow water, and we get them in around 190-100ft range. In fall they move in to the bays to spawn and they can be caught all over, on bottom at 60ft, 20 feet down, all over the water colum.
There are some reefs in the lake that come up from vary deep water to like 20 ft, in these spots they can be caught on spinning reels and spoons. We have even taken these fish on fly rods.
As far as colors go I like hot green and light blue, and some times do well on glow baits.
