We got a whole bunch of pork steaks, deer steaks, deer slim jims, alot of meat anyways, thats no good anymore. Would this work as catfish bait? What should I do to get it ready?

Try salting it first. Years ago we use to catch panfish & bullheads with bacon. Also for channel cats you could try letting it rot in the sun for a couple of days.[:'(]

I dont see why not , my grandfather told me years ago when he was a kid they would use pieces of cow or pig fat that was left over from slaughtering as catfish bait.

actually just 2 weekends ago me n a couple buddies took an old bag of deer meat n layed it n the sun the day we went fishing and went to a pay-lake that night n caught a few cats on it...we were laying it n the chicken liver containers with the blood before we used it though...but i guess its a good use for the old meat
