Default Catfish bait

I had a good day catfishing on the Mississippi this past weekend. I landed 3 blue's all over 8 pounds with the biggest about 11 1/2. Not bad for a first time catfisherman. The problem is that now I'm hooked and want more. We used some stuff that looked and felt like meat flavored marshmellows that we bought from Wall-Mart. I've been told that what works today might not work tomorrow so does anybody have a few other sugestions of decent bait.

Good old Bee Jay's bait has never failed me, seems to always work. A buddy of mine a few years back caught a 34 lbs 7 oz flathead on the stuff. Kinda odd since flatheads usually dont touch your bait unless its alive who knows that flathead must have been hungry.

Another one I use is a homemade concauction, (Note: Dont let your wife know you are using her blender) LOL . You will need 2 dozen nightcrawlers a half pound of frozen chicken livers 1/4 cup of garlic salt a stick of butter and a can of fine cut copenhagen dump all that in a blender and Liquify for about a minute or so, poor into a bowl and add 2 eggs with a wire wisk stir untill eggs are pretty well mixed in then add corn bread mix untill you get nice pancake batter consistancy going then add a couple hand fulls of cotton balls with your hands saturate the cotton balls really good. Now you are ready to fish, just grab a cotton ball or two from your mix put on a hook and cast away. good luck

YUM YUM. Sounds good I use mostly cut bait. I like to catch a few small fish from the source I am fishing and cut them up for bait. Suckers and carp work well. Any oily fish is best. Frogs work really well in summer when the cats are used to seeing tham. Enen grasshoppers. Look for what they are eating and use it for bait.

I have heard of guys storing there worms and grinding up coffe grounds and putting it in the soil with there worms. i guess the worms go nuts and grow to be enormous. I have heard of them catching some big cats on them so u could always try that too. Good luck!

You can tell I grew up poor but hot dogs work great for channel. Caught some last weekend using them. Had all different kinds of catfish bait and the hot dogs was the hot hand. Hey and if you get hungry!
