Best technique for hawgs in June.

I have tried reeling down to the fish.I missed every fish.I generally catch 90% on straight casting and about 60% flipping. There is alot of line to set when Carolining. The extra long 7' rod could help. When watching the pros set the hook on TV they are standing and sweeping quite abit of line, with a long rod.

ok, I could try that. I 'm used to the ole straight shank mustad worm hook either a #3 or #4. I just rigged up a 6 1/2 foot rod whicjh is my longest. It has braided spider on it. I'm going to carolina rig it this Sat.Had 20 hits last Sat. I'd like to fish Stick Marsh some time soon,Supposed to be loaded with 10 pounders.

I fished a high altitude mountain lake here in northern Arizona for large mouth bass today, Ive been fishing this lake for awhile now not able to get the lunkers to bite I tryed every technique I know that works great in the midwest with no luck then I got to thinking the lake is stocked with trout every two weeks with 6 to 15 inch rainbow trout. So I figured perhaps these bass were eating a regular diet of trout. I went to walmart and bought the biggest and closest to a rainbow trout pattern Rapala suspending husky jerk I could find. went back and fished the lake this evening and began catching good size bass
In the 3 hours I fished before the park closed, I caught 8 bass all ranging from 2 to 5 lbs, I had one lunker that had to be every bit of 8 to 10 lbs go for the lure just as i pulled it up from the water for another cast.
Im gonna go back tomorrow evening and try again.

Josh,
I took your advice and bought a combo at Walmart for 70.00. It was a 7' Lightening Rod with a 6000 Garcia. Smooth casting. I wished it was the 5000 but it's ok.Wider spool that's all.

I'm taking my rod and reel back.It was a compo. The 6000 Garcia takes a TON of line to fill.I'm going to get the 5000 Garcia instead. I have another rod to put the reel on. It's a 6 1/2 foot Quanum. It will have to do for a while. I only wanted one for Carolina rigging.I have 8 other rod and reels.

I used to be all about the lightning rods dont get me wrong they are a good rod, but I have switched to falcon rods and have never looked back. A falcon rod with some 14 lb berkley fireline talk about sensitivity. you can feel every nook and cranny in the bottom of the lake
