Default Browning A-Bolt with BOSS

Finally got a chance today to shoot my new 7mm Rem Mag Stalker with the BOSS system. Set it up just the way they said in the book and it was incredible. Factory Federal Premium 160gr Partitions, set the BOSS to 5.75. Several 100 yd. 3-shot groups less than 1" and lots of touching holes in those groups. Chambered some Winchester Premium 140gr Ballistic Silvertips, set the BOSS to 2.5, same thing. I'll admit that I was a little skeptical of this BOSS system at first but it really works. I will add the disclaimer that it worked on 'this rifle' with 'this ammo' for those that know someone that knows someone that couldn't get theirs to pattern.

I'm curious about reloading for this thing. Should I just set the BOSS for the recommended bullet weight and step up the loads like I would for any other barrel?

Never fire a rifle equiped with any muzzle brake without hearing protection.

Yep. That would be a mistake. I will most likely only use the muzzle brake at the range and use the CR tip when hunting.

My Boss is in 30.06 and even the non ported muzzlebreak seems louder than any other 30.06 I've shot. Why is the ported soooo loud? I have a Magna Ported 12 ga. that isn't any louder than my other 12 ga.

YOU are right stubblejumper.......but I have never seen any hunter in Wyoming,Colorado or Alberta using them.
I have a set of LEE SONIC PLUGS and use them all the time.

BHS,the ported ones are loud because gases are directed UPWARDS and OUTWARDS,not ahead of the muzzle,a ported muzzle brake is GREAT for shooting competitions, but BAD for hunting. After 2 or 3 shots with a ported muzzle brake and NO hearing protection, you'll be with a hearing specialist getting fitted for a set of hearing aids.
