There’s nothing wrong with a single shot for hunting.

Does H&R/NEF make a Survivor Handi-Rifle in 30-30? I think that would be an awesome package.
I wouldnt mind getting one in .243 either.

single shots are great for hunting, In fact when I'm hunting and see someone else if they have a single shot I assume they are a decent shot, an automatic tells me exactly the opposite.

Having only one shot, should make you a better hunter. From the beginning, you'll gain the mindset that you've only got one shot and you need to make that one shot count. I shoot T/C's single-shot pistols/rifles/shotguns for deer, coyotes and turkey and have yet to need a second shot. I don't have any Handi-rifles, but from what I've read on here and other boards, they're good shooters and well worth the cash.

Single shot are great for hunting. Most are very accurate and if you place your shot right you won't need a second shot. If I'm shooting and miss w/ the first shot I normally don't bother to try second shot.

I have a .243 H/R ultra rifle, took my first deer with it, and perhaps I've gotten on the lucky end, But I shot a 3shot group of 1inch using 13$ winchester powerpoints, Mines exceptionally accurate, and for the most part, it's the first shot that counts anyhow....

My 1st gun was a 225 single shot used it for years now my little sis is using it to kill deer in KS. just so you all know i am 18 years older than sis :}
best thing i can tell you is to shot as much as you can with it.

I bet my son will get to use the 225 for his 1st gun allso.

I have had Ruger #1 in 25-06 that was a shooter,I had a Handi Rifle in 270 Win,I sold it about a year a go to a freind of mine for his daughters to shoot with.
They are worth the money,in my book.
