I just got 1000 acers in KY to hunt on is 85% big woods and sone nice fields and have the chance to buy a 300 win mag wsm at a good price or I can buy a new barrel for my Encore what is your opinion.

i saw the 300 mag on sale at wallyworld for $299 or something w/ a scope. It is tempting, but after shooting one, not so tempting. Recoil is flat punishing.

I would buy an Encore barrel in your favorite caliber. If you go with the wally world special be sure to get a good recoil pad and throw the cheap scope away and replace it with a Leupold!!

way to go the other m.t. i don't think you can get the 300wsm for the encore even from the aftermarket guys, at least i haven't see any yet and i've also heard the frame wont hold up with the 300wsm. let us know how the new piece does

Well went to the range Saturday and sighted it in at 100 yards,it shoots real good and I'm
real happy that I got LUCKY and found this rifle at that price, the local gun dealer wants 530.00 for the same thing.

I just sighted in my Supershadow 300wsm this week. It was accurate and the recoil was more than expected but not unmanageable. I have put about a box of Winchester 150 gr. Ballistic silvertips through it and no bruising of my shoulder. Just remember to hold onto the gun firmly and seat the gun tight against your shoulder. If not you might get hit in the forehead with your scope. Good Luck
