reminton 597

Yes most all of us have had problems with our 597's. Mine is a very accurate .22 but it won't feed a magazine of bullets with out jamming up two or three times every time. All of the trigger parts are little plastic pieces of crap and engagement angle between the sear and the hammer is such that it takes about 8 - 10 pounds of pull to release it.
And then i called Remington about it and they told me I would have to take it to a authorized repair facility and pay for the repairs myself. I explained to them it has been doing this since day one but that did not matter to them. That will be the last Remington that I will buy. I will work on them and make money off of their crap though.
You would be better served wit a Ruger, Marlin, TC.

Do yourself a fovor and get the ruger. I have a 597 mag and it sucks a$$.It has to be the worst rifle I have ever purchased. It jams after about 3 shots every time. Get the 10/22 and save yourself alot of complaining.

I have to 22's. A remington 597 and ruger 10/22. I have not shot the remington in over a year. It handles and shoots great. When the bullet actually gets to the chamber. The problem seems to be with the magazine. That is where mine jams anyway. When you manually unload it, the plate sticks all the way up. Buy the ruger and don't look back.
