RE: Are hot load ok in the ruger 44 carbine?
I called Corbon to find out if the carbine can shoot their bullets and they told me no problem. I do have a new gun. I shoot their 280 grain bullets. I asked previously for a recommendation on bullets for deer 100 - 200 lbs out to 100 yards, and they told me to use the 260 or 280 grain bullets because they offered good penetration and very good expansion.

thanks LAbushman.
i wonder about the nose on the 260&280 BC cor bon' s siting up againt the primer of the round ahead? i have the older carbine with tubular magazine. for now i'll stick to jhp's and fp till i learn more. i shot some hornady 300jhp xtp through it yesterday, it's easy to shot accurately with(it's scoped 3x leoupod).

The 260 and 280 grain Corbons have an "Imitation" hollow point. They have a hole drilled in the nose of the bullet that is supposed to help the expansion. The hole in the nose goes against the next bullets primer in tubular magazine. The new deerfields have a rotorary detachable magazine.
I have a 1.75 - 5 Buris scope on the top of the gun.

quess what? my cor bon 280gr BC mfg. in 12/18/98 has a typical soft point look. i have some 260gr BC i bought at the same time, i haven't found them yet so i don't know about them. i'm starting to think it would be ok to use the 280 BC's being they have a flat lead nose?
