Opinions on Burris Scopes
#2
They are a very good rugged scope with good optics. Its always a matter of opinion but look at them in the store and take it outside if they let you. If it looks good, Buy it they hold well and they are overall very good scopes. I had several of the old ones and the new ones seem comparable.

Just bought a new Fullfield II 3.5x10x50 scope and spent a lot of time looking at it and the Vx-II 3x9x50 and the Burris I believe is the better scope...Only gripe on mineis the windage adjustments are a little tough to read but workmanship is very good and the optics are very bright and clear... I had a 3x9x40 FFII a few years back and had some service problems with it..hopefully this one will be better

I am the newest of the newbies on this site and am very impressed with the knowledge here. I have had a Burris Signature on my Weatherby 300 mag for 13 years. This scope gives me fits, the “0” moves and the eye relief is not enough to keep from getting hit. Now I have loose parts inside and am going to replace it with a Sightron. My 22/250 sports a sightron and it is clearer and brighter and half the cost of the Burris.[:@]

I had a Burris Fullfield and hated it ! It was aweful in low light.....the eye relief was the worst I have had.....and the "clicks" for adjustments are so soft and quiet that I had a hard time telling whether I made 1 or 4 clicks !!
I bought a Zeiss VM/V and although it cost 3 times more ......I am much happier with it (no complaints) !!

Never had one until last year. put a 6-24 signature with target turrets on my 300RUM just for long range shooting. It was one problem after another. Windage and elevation adjustments doesn have much dynamic range ~around an honest 8MOA to be honest. Yea, you can adjust further but its not accurate MOA's after that. I have twice that much on my Leupolds and Ziess. Call Burris, (horrible reps), and he said 8 to 10MOA is fine. I said for me to use this I have to center the scope perfectly with the signature rings with the insert kit. Well, its harder than it sounds. Then finally I was doing some long range shooting. and notice you have to give the scopes some raps or hits to get the reticle to settle in while adjusting target turrets. (not good for a target scope). Finally eye relief is dangerous with a 300RUM or magnums with no muzzlebreak. Never did konk myself, but came too close for me. Made me flinch. Took off and put my Leupold back on and put stoney point target knobs. Not ideal but works.
One way I could see the reticles wouldn't adjust right was putting a bore sighter on it. It will not come back to zero when doing a box test with it. Never own another burris.

Boy I would like to see a Sightron anything beat out any scope other than cheap Japanese low end scopes in brightness... Complaining about eye relief shooting a 300 Weatherby, your only answer is a Leupold.
1/2 the price of a Burris for a Sightron where are you buying your scopes?
Seems like Burris is getting bashed around pretty good...I have had a grand total of five of them and currently own just one a 3.5x10x50 FFII...I am very pleased with the current one and prior to buying it looked at a Leupold VX-II in 3x9x50 ...as far as I could tell resolution wise the Burris is better and brighter...no problems zeroing it or any of the other complaints lodged here. This is my second FF II though and the previous one (bought when first introduced) had to be returned and had a CS nightmare with them but since its been back has not been a problem(gave it to my brother inlaw) it was mounted on a 300 win mag with a muzzlebreak and now its on a 06 and appears to be very happy. All the other Signatures I owned had no problem. In general I think they are a quality scope but they seem to have patchy QA and CS...they have been bought out by Beretta and hopefully they will straighten them out.
