Savage 110 Hog Hunter .350 Legend
#11
Two youth hunters shot four deer with it this year.
Two of the deer never took a step. One was a double lung shot that went about sixty yards with a nice, easy to follow blood trail, and one was a gut shot that required a lengthy tracking job, but we were able to get back on it and get another round into it in it's bed.
I didn't get to shoot anything with it.. we used 150s but I'm bumping up to 180s to try for next year. I've always preferred a heavier bullet anyway. Doubt the deer have a preference either way.

I only shot a few deer with the .45-70, and one elk.
One of the deer made it about 15 yards..... Or maybe it got knocked back by the impact.....
the elk reared up on its hind legs and flipped clean over backwards. Hitting the ground dead. It was an impressive sight. I love the .45-70.

now that's gotta be overkill! Especially if a 180 out of a .350L counts as overkill! Lol.

Me three. I have 45-70s. I don't know about deer but they sure knock the snot out of a bear! And my Guide Gun and SBL are a joy to carry. My Pedersoli Sharps - no so much!
That 350 Legend is a neat little cartridge though. And I picked up 3 boxes of 145 gr bullets at Walmart here in FL this week for $15 a box. I even asked the guy if they were in the right place with that price.

My 45-70 is an actual Marlin guide gun. I am so glad I bought it from a member here, at least someone who offered it here. I always wanted one and I got it for a great price. It will get sold with my estate.

The deer and hogs hate them.
