I got my new Henry big boy steel in 44 mag about 3 weeks ago and I shot it iron sights and figured I'd do much better with a scope... So I ordered a Henry picatinny base and picked up some warne low rings... Well I mounted base and started to put scope rings on base and realized that the rings were loose after being tighten up... I checked everything and re did the rings and they were still loose... So I had a set of weaver rings layin around figured I'd try them... Same thing loose... I called Henry and told them the deal and they are sending me another base... I just was wondering if anybody else had this prob mounting a scope on there Henry???

Are the receiver holes plug tapped? Guessing the screws are too long and holes too shallow for the thickness of the base. Might be just too much countersink on the base through-bores, but might be screws too long. Only need 3 threads, so how deep is the hole?

"The rings were loose on the base" not the base loose on the gun... I repeat... the "rings" were loose on the "base"... I tighten rings to 25 ft lbs and the "rings" were still loose on the "base"

Never had that happen before either wrong rings for that style base or the base is off which I would find odd because I would think they would have a hole run of bases that were bad Let us know how the new one fits ?

I was watching outdoor channel and I realized I had a red dot scope on my reloading bench that had rings on it... it was a millet red dot so I'm assuming millet rings... anyhow I tryed them and they fit👍🏻 So it's mounted and ready to shoot... when new base comes in I'm gonna try it and see if it's of a different size... if so I'll re mount scope with the warne rings

Same prob with new base... I'm gonna take base to my SGS and see if they can find some Burris rings that will fit it
