Scopes are nice, but I probably shoot as well without when using a 99'. I have some with scopes and they just don't "Fit" like one without. I don't believe the lever action of any kind is a good fit with a scope. Sometimes I drag out the .303, .22HP, even have one in 7-30 Waters with no scope. It is fun to deer hunt that way, but a little dicey with the point restrictions in PA.

Gunplummer, I love hunting with the levers, scoped and non. And yes, I typically save my non-scope hunting to doe season because of the point restrictions.

Nice find! That is on my bucket list. I have seen some 99s, usually not in good condition, and usually not in .300 Savage.
