I just bought a Rem. 700 Sendero in a 7mm for 400.00. I was thinking of a Nikon ProStaff scope in a 3-9x40. Does anyone know if this would be a good scope for this cal. or not? I would like a bigger scope but short on money. How about Nikon vs. Leopold??????

I' d go with Nikon over Leupold for only one reason. Same or better quality for less money, IMHO. But, I' d put nothing less than the Nikon Monarch on it. The little extra money will be well worth it and you' ll be much happier. And Nikon' s " no-fault" warranty is unbeatable. It means you can run over the scope with your truck, and they' ll fix or replace it at no charge.

Beav cheap is never " best" but sometimes you can get " acceptable" for just a lil more. A 3x9 gets awfully weak on a 7mag. Especially if you are going to be shooting in conditions like the Sendero was made for. " On the cheap" I would recommend a 4x12x40 VX I in the Leupold. Its not a matte scope, but dont let looks override functionality on this one. You WILL want more glass than 9 on your 7 when the deer get small on the horizon. Nikon has a 4.5x14x40 in their Buckmaster line that is only a few dollars more than the Leupold. Either will be a great lil scope for your needs and gun!
