Pistol Help
I would like to get into hunting with pistols, but know little about what are good pistols for deer and hog size game? I would also like a pistol that i can shoot at least 100yds. I don't know much about hunting with pistols so any help would be appreciated.

First,I am not a pistol hunter but one of my regular customers is and his favorite is the Wildey.I just did a gunbelt for him.He has 3 of them, 5", 10", and a 14" barrels.They go all the way to 18" barrels and calibers range from 44 mag to 475.100 yds and quite abit more.Certainly not the cheapest but great guns from what I understand.Dave

good choice. I have a 460Smith and a few 44mags. 460 is a little too heavy for my taste. 44mag is perfect. The 450 wieghs almost 5lbs. Wtih all that wieght doesn't kick bad, but its hard to get a shot off with all that weight.

What kindof worried me about your question was the: "shoot at least 100yds" part.
If you need to shoot "at least 100yds", (meaning most shots will be beyond 100yds), spitzer type bullets would probably be needed for best accuracy.
So rifle calibers are in order. As is a scope for accurate 100plus yard shots.
Id say a Super 14 contender/encore, scoped, in one of the many rifle calibers available.
I personally prefer the 10" contenders for carry, but at those kind of ranges, you'll probably have a rest, so the 14" barrel will probably help you.
Handgun hunting has become a passion of mine over the past seveal years. There is nothing like it....
Except maybe jump shooting deer in a clear cut!
