I push 140g Nos. BT out of my wife' s 270win. Does a pretty good job on the cow elk she shot and the 4pt muley. I' ve since switched to Nos. Partitions for both our rifles though for better penetration. I load her up with a 130g Partition (I think) and it shoots pretty good. Using handloads it' s going near 3k fps.

I NEVER shoot any factory ammo, unless it is for the purpose of getting empty cases to put A GOOD LOAD in!!

I use 150 grain Nosler Partition bullets in Alaska, and 130 grain NPJ' s in the lower 48!

130 -150 grain depending on the game. As far as factory loads I have had good luck with federal, hornady, nitrex and winchester.

Deer I prefer 130gr Ballistic Tips(Hornady SST) or Boat tails
Elk and Moose I have had really good luck with 140 gr Winchester Fail Safes, 150 Gr Federal Nosler Partitions or Hornady Interlock in 150 gr

I would look at the new 130 Gr Hornady interbond (plastic tip) for a 270, it is suppose to be better for retention than the sst and as accurate. If that is true it should be great deer bullet in a 270/130gr. I used the sst this fall and was really impressed with accuracy and game performance. However it was out of my 7 mm RM and in 154Gr.

My 270 likes 130 grain Winchester supreme ballistic tips. Your gun may be different. Not being a reloader.....yet, I had to run quite a bit of factory ammo before I found what my gun liked best. Yes it was kind of expensive, but shooting sure is fun.

Actually it' s my wife' s gun and it will shot about any load around 1" . Lucky I can push anything through it and it shoots well so I can worry about the bullet type and velocity. She shoots with her eyes closed anyway so I don' t know why I bother .
